Assignment Steps: 1. Divide into teams of 3-4.
2. Create a 2 room “walking simulator” with the following rules. Use environmental design and props to communicate a story/narrative.
Use NO (to very limited) text
Use NO (to limited) audio logs
Skillfully/subtly use composition and Mise en Scene to direct attention
Communicate something about player identity and/or motives
3. Build your prototypes. Prepare to playtest in class.
Please prepare a document for your prototype that addresses the following things:
1. Idea for concept (what is your idea?) - relate to readings
2. Design doc for story premise that has following sections:
a. Story premise
b. Player identity
c. Objects/props of importance
d. Anticipated player flow through environment
3. Include any level design sketches/related documents (if applicable)
Make a folder for your TEAM in the “UNIT 3 Prototype Environment” folder:
Upload video/image documentation of prototype working (will be posted on web)
Upload narrative documentation
Make sure to answer the questions listed above
Upload separate Team Narrative that is 1-2 pages long. 1 paragraph should be written by each team member about their contributions
The prototype should be brought to class complete and ready to be playtested.
*Reminder that project documentation should:
Include video/images of game being played
Images of design sketches and assets
Document that describes game and answers questions
Document where everyone on team writes their role
Documentation for both Monday & Tuesday Class: SATURDAY, APRIL 2nd at 11:59pm; we can make small changes to include our findings from the playlist by Wednesday night, but everything else should essentially be already done.
